If any foaming material is used to fill the gap
between the outer frame surface and the
surrounding brickwork, the element must
still be secured to the surrounding building
parts with mechanical means such as frame
bolts/dowels or ironmongery.
Without permanent support
If the frame is fixed in the wall aperture
using mechanical means at each fixing point,
the frame can be secured without the use of
permanent support.
However, permanent support/wedging mu-
st always be in place under sideframes and
mullions to ensure that the weight of the
element is supported by the underlying
brickwork/construction. The wedging ma-
terial must be moisture-resistant.
